Minotaur

Minotauro

Omar Bautista is a 60-year-old man who was sentenced to prison for murder. After almost a decade in prison, Omar gets the benefit of 72-hour releases. A documentary filmmaker tries to follow him during these leaves, which turn into a sort of psychological hunt.

Curator's Note

Who is in charge in a documentary? Is it the director who will put his name on the film? Or is it the subject? Minotaur dramatizes by placing a character in the frame who will constantly rebel against any and all attempts to rein him in, to define him, to even follow him. The film is then a battle between two competing impulses and becomes a fascinating stage for these questions of documentary ethics and authorship. Regardless of who is really in charge, Omar Bautista is a tremendous personality, always keeping the viewer on their toes. - Jhon Hernandez
